Generate Paper in School Based Assessment System of PEC

Punjab examination commission is conducting school based assessment in the province of Punjab, which is known as School based Assessment 2021.  In this way, PEC wants to judge the ability of students on new criteria and trying to eradicate old methods of examination. In School Based Assessment 2021, PEC totally stopped the old practices of examination i.e. essay type questions. Now, total paper will be consisted on multiple choice questions (MCQs). 

Since when PEC started working, examinations of Grade V and VIII are being conducted according to this pattern, but this year, examinations from grade I to VIII will be conducted on this new pattern. Assessment of grade I and II will be conducted orally, whereas, assessment of grade III to VIII will be in written.

Punjab Examination Commission provided Item Bank System for generating papers. School will generate papers individually by accessing the Item Bank System after logging Into their account through Username and Password provided by the PEC, which are given bellow:_

Username: EMIS Code of the School (consisting of 8 digits. XXXXXXXX)

Password: 123456789

This is universal password provided by the PEC. Every school will be log into his account through his EMIS Code as Username and Password given above. After first login, schools are required to change their password.

You will be redirected to login Screen by clicking on your district name_

 On clicking of any district you will be land on following screen:_

  • Enter EMIS Code of your school as a username.
  • Enter 123456789 as password.
  • Click on "Sign In" button.
  • Dashboard screen will be opened.


  • To generate paper click on "Generate New Paper" from side menu or green box titled by "Generate Paper".


  • In either option following screen will be opened.

  • Provide necessary information as explained below.

  • Select Grade (for example "Five")
  • Select Subject (For example "Social Study")
  • Give Paper Title (For example "SST 5")
  • Creation Date and Paper Number will be generated by website.
  • After providing necessary information, click on blue button, titled "Start Paper Generation" pointed by green arrow.
  • Following screen will be appeared.

  • Four option under one question will be given and you will be required to chose only one. Read them, click on the radio button of option to be selected.
  • Click "Next".
  • Next Question will be appear, select an option and click on "Next", and so on.
  • On selection of last question, following screen will be appear and "Next" button will be replaced by "Finish" Button.
  • Click on "Finish" button.
  • Paper will be generated.
  • To see generated paper click on "Generated Paper List" or Sky blue box titled by "All Papers".



School Based Assessment 2021

The Punjab Examination Commission is an important and self-governing body established under the Punjab Education Department. The main objective of which is to introduce a systematic system of assessment to assess the academic achievements of the students of class I to VIII and to inform the policy makers by making recommendations for the improvement of education based on it.

In 2020, the assessment of class V was done in accordance with the School Based Assessment under the Assessment Policy Frame Work issued by the Punjab Government. This year in 2021, it has been decided to conduct the assessment of class I to VIII according to the school based assessment. In this process, PEC will provide Item Bank for questions with the help of which schools will prepare papers for assessment of children.

Standard Operating Procedures.

  • Mode of assessment of the academic session 2020-21 is 50% weightage for Homework and 50% weightage for MCQ based paper.
  • Assessment for Grade I & II (English, Math, General Knowledge and Urdu) will be Oral and instruments will be provided by the PEC.
  • Item bank of 100 items per subject for Grade III to VIII of all core subjects (English, Maths, Science, Urdu, Computer Science, History & Geography and Islamiat/Ethics) will be provided by PEC.
  • Assessment of remaining / optional subjects will be prepared and conducted by school itself.
  • Each MCQ paper will be of 25 items having 2 marks for each item with duration of 60 minutes (in multiple sessions daily if needed) as per SoPs of Covid-19 issued by Govt. of the Punjab.
  • Date sheet for SBA will be issued by the Head Teacher of the School as per above mentioned schedule.
  • Punjab Examination Commission will establish a Control Room at provincial level for coordination / facilitation to District Education Authorities
